Reminds me of my classroom in elementary school. One child in my class was sent home with the measles. Within a couple of days most of us, including me, came down with it.
In the population at large, deaths were overstated due to financial (and possibly political) incentives. The NY nursing home deaths were understated by 50%.
Close proximity, without rigorous sanitary standards, causes most any bug to run rampant, colds, flu, etc.
