And the alternative has a record of managing thr last pandemic. His decisions resulted in a minimum of 60 million infections. It was pure luck it did not result in the largest mass casualty event in a century.
Imho somebody who is not restrained by bureaucratic turf wars is exactly what has resulted in the effective response once we were in crisis.
Leadership not willing to risk criticism of their actions is what results in a pandemic with 60 million plus infections

Any past president probably would've followed the Pandemic Operation Plan, that was developed, war-gamed, analyzed, and refined by a team of experts. It probably wouldn't have been perfect, but it would've been better than what I saw as "make it up as we go." I thoroughly believe that a team of experts, who had to be the top 0.01% just to get into grad school, can collectively generate a better plan than any singular non-expert just 'common sensing' it. To be fair, a leader can't possibly be an expert in everything. They're selected to direct the collective efforts of their team, but that means they ride on their experts' shoulders, not outsmart them in their own field.

I don't see how this disproves masks. 3 Scandinavian countries with 'man-space' cultures in sparsely populated countries don't wear masks, so masks don't work? They have socialized healthcare, free college, reformed prisons, great unemployment plans, worker's rights, and a heavy tax burden (including carbon, horsepower, and VAT taxes), should we do all of those too? My point is what works for them can't necessarily just be applied to NYC, LA, Chicago.

Sweden and Denmark are enjoying their herd immunity while watching the rest to the union flail about over a cold virus.
I don't understand why you people can't get it thru your thick skulls that this bug is not instadeath - far from it. To compare it to something else, well we had different "optics" in 2009 than we do now. I'll leave it at that.

He did execute the response plan. To include the additions to it made in 2015. Faux-chi was one of his advisors. How can you say anything different? You make it sound like he went off willy-nilly on this thing. You have a very short memory.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeee (that's the sound a reel makes as its stripping drag)
Fish on!!!
So, you're telling everyone here, that Faux-chi was not an advisor to the POTUS? That he did not execute the plan? So must be in the WH, CDC, HHS or NIH then right? Because you have this inside info?
Oh goodness, that's rich.
You people crack me up.

You still haven't posted a word with respect to a plan. You are only saying orange guy bad. Anyone can stand back and say he did it wrong. Ask Joe Biden, that's all he does. It is another thing to actually put forward a plan that will work in a society where the federal government does not have the power to do the things you likely would advocate for.

The link to the actual plan is dead now, but it's 396 pages. It's not a tweet

When the POTUS wants something, it's obvious and he'll break rules and do questionable stuff to get it, for better or worse. On the same token, when he doesn't think something is important, it's obvious. He was a day late and a buck short the whole time with COVID and what you're talking about is a complicated "how could've we won Vietnam" play-by-play that I'm not going to rehash. Just Google what Trump did wrong and fact-check the accuracy of the statements.
Its not on me to prove your assertions.
