PCR Test Required to Fly to Canada
#14
If I could obtain duel citizenship I would in an absolute heartbeat. It wasnt by accident I spent over 100 overnights in YOW/YUL when I was flying for my first regional. I would spend 6 months in CA and 6 months down in the BVI in a perfect world scenario.

Correct, Crew do not need it.
I am a commuter. I will need it. Not sure how this is going to work.
https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-c...to-canada.html
So the issues are endless.
What if you test positive? Then the airline bars you from travel, denying citizens from going to their own country.
How will the airline certify that its a real test? How will the Canadian Govt certify that the test is a real one?
What a joke.
Add to this that it must be a PCR test, which has a turn around of a few days.....BUT the test must be performed within 72hrs, Talk about cutting it fine.

Yes I can drive across. Despite the land border not being open we (pilots, critical infrastructure workers) can drive across. Ive done it before.
Totally bizzar rule this PCR one because you don't need one if you drive......huh?
Also there are absolutly ZERO checks in place to make sure the tests are either legitimate let alone if the test meets any sort of standard.

If they are making a rule that obviously can’t be complied with there’s an ulterior motive - ban Canadians from traveling outside Canada without actually banning them. Big government; fearful
population...
If you’re commuting for the sole purpose of performing essential work and services it would seem you'd be exempt. However, doesn’t appear the system is setup to accept anomalies / exemptions. Can you commute on your company aircraft and have them put you on the gendec?

To me it may be the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Two different regulators making decisions but not coordinating with each other. Happens all the time.

The gate agent is literally the arbitrator by proxy for the governement of canada. Its theatre plane and simple.
They cant legally ban travel..... but they can make it a huge PITA.
Ill let yall know how it goes.
