No Exit Strategy

I agree. It’s going to be a lot harder to defeat these virtue signaling COVID woke crowd than the virus itself.
When you have people clutching their pearls about 400,000 mostly obese/old/frail people dead from COVID, yet have never said anything about the 7 figure death toll from cancer and heart disease every single year, you have a problem. Cancer and heart disease will continue to kill in the 7 figures long after COVID is a footnote in history. But you can’t score woke points with cancer and heart disease.
The thing is, humans are social creatures. Even the most frightened COVID scaremonger will have to come out of their basement eventually.
Im over it. After my second vaccine dose, the mask is coming off, and it’s staying off.

I live in the northeast and I'm starting to see a slow but noticeable turn on public opinion regarding these ridiculous covid policies. The double/triple masking, staying locked inside, etc is losing steam. You can only use hyperbole to scare people for so long before the cure becomes worse than the cause. In my mind we went past that point long ago but even people who took delight in mocking anti-maskers are turning their noses up at the double/triple mask BS, for example. It will take a while but I'm starting to regain hope that we can make our way back to normal.
People will only push back against these nonsensical rules when the restrictions really "touch" their lives. Restauranteurs, airline pilots, tourist industry workers have been trying to get back to normal but now that EVERYONE has to wear 6 masks and stay home forever I think the scales will tip. I'm seeing some, few fanatics clinging on to more and more restrictions but I'm seeing more average people waking up and seeing that this is unsustainable.

Meanwhile in CA, they openly admit we are too stupid to see the data/science used to enact the shutdowns. Outdoor dining closed. Now it’s open. Malls are open but the LA zoo is closed. Movie theaters never opened here. Yet, even in NJ movie theaters opened with a 40% cap. Never in CA. Disney open in FL, closed in CA. Proportionately adjusted for population, CA (draconian lockdowns) and FL (mostly open) still ended up with similar outcomes.

It was known last summer that lockdowns are ineffective. That didn’t stop the UK, most of Europe and Canada from locking down even more strictly than California. In the above paper obesity was substantially linked to mortality, as was an older population. They found no benefit from strictness of lockdown on cases or deaths. A longer time to implementation of a lockdown was linked to fewer, not more, cases. Other odd findings, lower income dispersion and more smoking were associated with fewer critical cases and deaths.
Here is another more recent peer reviewed research paper showing lockdowns have almost no effect:

The US leading epidemiologists contradict themselves when it comes to double masking:
https://www.radio.com/wccoradio/news...recommendation
Osterholm said Florida would have a massive surge in December. That didn’t happen, California had the worst surge even though they were the state with the most restrictions. That doesn’t stop Osterholm from saying we are going to see another surge in 6-14 weeks because of variants. Cases in the UK were declining before they were forced into their current lockdown, and regarding the South African variant, South Africa has had much less per capita COVID death than most US states even though their variant makes up the overwhelming majority of their cases.
By the way, the UK variant is not more deadly. And it may not even be more transmittable:
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1....28.21250680v1
Yet, the UK variant was the justification the US CDC and Biden Administration used to mandate testing travelers (which has already proven to be ineffective).
The “experts”, politicians and governments will continue to be dishonest, promote fear and lie. This will never stop unless they are forced and they will never relinquish their control until they are forced to do so.
It is one of the hardest psychological endeavors for people to get out of denial and acknowledge they were duped. The economic, social and psychological destruction that these people have caused is almost immeasurable. But, this will not change until the hysterical politicians, the governments and the corporations are forced to stop their destructive nonsense.
And I mean forced.
A imperfect vaccine against a constantly mutating respiratory virus is not going to stop this. Never ending variants will be used to continue the agenda indefinitely unless people take a stand for rationality and science.

Not only do they not have an exit strategy they are locking it down more.
The PM of Canada just closed the borders even tighter and restricted all international travel to a few airports. Not surprisingly this correlates with the Executive Order to stop pipeline. It also purposely restricts travel to Mexico. Hmmm.
The CDC somehow now has powers to fine people for not wearing masks. They just ordered masks to be worn on all public transportation and they have to be at least double layer.
When did the CDC get powers to police?
No exit at all, just lock and chain the doors.

There's an exit plan, likely in flux and even a bit disjointed, but everyone is sick of this and to suggest otherwise is just plain foolish. Did the governments get everything right? Nope, there will hopefully be some lessons learned here but if you are telling me any of this has to do with restricting your freedoms for the purpose of dragging this stupid pandemic on or vice versa...well can't help ya.
