From the WSJ (paywall), Israeli study is reporting that...

- Third pfizer shot protects against severe outcomes with omicron.

- Two-shot regimen is NOT effective against omicron after 5-6 months. Still partially effective against delta.

Pfizer is developing an omicron-specific booster, shooting for availability next March.

I am SHOCKED that Pfizer studies show the need to buy another drug made by Pfizer.

All, including Ouchi Fauci, say that Omicron doesn’t manifest into severe symptoms.
So why the contradictory information??

Misinformation that must be silenced!!

Yes pfizer said that too. But the WSJ was referring to a study conducted by a legit medical center, not big pharma.

Some. It looks anecdotally like a lot less than previous variants, but nobodies published numbers claimed as definitive yet. Should be soon.

The UK NHS has put out some early figures:

On Monday, the UK Health Security Agency confirmed 10 people had been admitted to hospital in England with the Omicron variant.

Their ages ranged from 18 to 85 years old and the majority had received two doses of a Covid vaccination, the agency said.

There have been 4,713 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant across the UK, it added, after 1,576 new cases were reported on Monday.
with 4713 confirmed cases (and milder infections are usually under reported) and only ten hospitalizations (and apparently now one death) it seems at first assessment a good deal less pathogenic than either alpha or delta, but until you are allowed to look at specific risk factors and demographics of the more severely infected it’s hard to say anything definitive. If the one fatality was the 85 year old who - just coincidentally - happened to be five foot two inches and weighed 27 stone and had dementia, that might not mean much in terms of severity. If it was an 18 year old Olympic bicyclist - well, that could be bad.

Further no will no doubt follow. Two immunizations clearly isn’t stopping it though - apparently not even slowing it down.

But there is tons of data highlighting that it is slowed down immensely with a booster. That’s where we are.

Fixed it for you. The longevity of the partial protection provided by a booster has yet to be fully demonstrated. I’m not anti booster per se, just trying to be accurate.

Dr. Sharon Alroy-Preis says country could recommend boosters as early as three months after second shot

The neutralizing ability of even three shots of the Pfizer corona vaccine is four times less against the Omicron than the Delta variant, according to researchers at Sheba Medical Center.

I don’t disagree. Thanks for pointing that out.
