Default Spirit (meltdown) Pass

Trying to book my 2 free round trip tix from SEA to SYD earned as a result of this summers IT meltdown. Literally hundreds of seats available on DL metal, but the system will not let me book a flight out to SYD (only return flights seem to be available for selection).

I've tried every date plus/minus 2 weeks.

I'm booking 8 mos out, and tons of seats are available. I didn't think these spirit passes had black out days (much less months).

Anyone else have this problem and a possible solution?

I just tried it and I have the opposite problem - I can select an outbound (SEA-LAX-SYD) just fine, but there are no seats available SYD-LAX-SEA for any of a dozen dates (I just randomly picked some dates in June)

I would call the Employee Service Center and talk to the travel people there.

Yep. Booked months out for my parents to Munich last fall, same issue. I called the benefits hotline and I was told revenue management makes the decision to release seats "if they think they won't sell all seats." I drafted an ask Ed letter asking why we were offered something with no fine print only to have it bait and switched. Went through the CPO instead, had an answer in 24 hours and suddenly all seats were available for booking. It's as if no one told revenue people that the passes existed. I suggest going through your CPO to get them to release their grip. If all else fails, send that ask Ed that I never did, and ask for another pair for the most recent meltdown too

Any business class/comfort plus opportunities when we use these?

With the OGT passes, they capped how many could be booked on a given flight, regardless of the number of empty seats. So someone may have beat you to those days.

Yes, your pass guarantees you a coach seat and you get to PSUP, which puts you ahead of all the regular nonrevs

I'd agree with you except that EVERY flight for 2.5 months is blacked out, all with open seats.
