And you only get a gym if you're ATL based. So there's that, too.

Come to Mecca, bud! It's not all that bad, despite what you read about here. We all get along famously!

Seems Boeing wants the Gobbmint to charge 79% tax on the "C" series now.

Quote: The company can't look at a VB until they see the makeup off who bids to the C series in the first few bids. At the moment the first base is not even set in stone. Realistically they could not open a VB there until after the trial window is over in Jan of 19.
If the company really believes they have the potential for a Midwest base year round it would be cheaper to open it as a normal base. That could be done at any time after the first delivery and would insure staffing.
To keep the entire discussion real the only reference the company has posted to a VB is a possible mid continent base. The entire Midwest base rumor came from one pilots post here. I suspect if the first base is LAX the only VB that would make sense is SFO.
What if the company wants to open a VB in one of the previously mentioned cities. Let's say they are thinking DFW, SAT, or AUS. You say they have to wait and see who bids it and where they live. What if they want to let us know where they are thinking of putting one, and encourage local DFW guys, for example, to bid it. Or AUS or SAT.

Yeah it seems like it would be wise for them to generate interest beforehand in order to facilitate such a base. Also, it seems like we should hear fairly soon where the first C100 base will be since the first bid is only 3 or 4 months out.

What I gather you are saying is the company would say we are opening a LAX base but promise you a VB in Texas so please bid for it. Just trust us!
If they are that sure of a year round need for a Texas base why not just open a regular base and save money?

Perhaps Flight Ops has been burned by marketing and is understandably a lot more hesitant to open a base on what marketing says is a "surety."

Just think NYC 777 or even DTW 777 for that matter.

But honestly it really doesn't matter - right now the plan could be 99% LAX for a C series base and it could change 5 times before the fall. Time will tell.

It may get a lot of things including additional interest from airlines. The only thing that matters however is additional orders. So far in that regard the interest is severely lacking. There will come a point when the plug has to be pulled on the program unless orders and a bunch are forthcoming soon.
