Default A350 LCAs Out Of Seniority

There are going to be A350 LCAs from the 717,737, ER out of seniority.

I want to point out first, that I do not blame them for taking the opportunity.

I want DALPA to amend the PWA at the first opportunity to eliminate this practice.

1) it abrogates seniority

2) it lowers our level of safety

For those of us who have flown the Airbus, can you imagine being an instructor with no experience?

Imagine you are on your OE and you have a major problem. Who is in charge? You or the 717 pilot?

What if you know the decision he makes is wrong because you have 5000 hours of Airbus experience and he has none?

Of course we all work together. But doesn't someone have to be in charge?

Above all else DALPA and management have a written commitment to safety first.

Are they living up to that?

Or is this simply convenient?

Ill be the first to tell you, just being a senior pilot does not make you a better pilot.

Yeah, I'm not quite following the OP either.

If a guy/gal has a long history of being a great instructor/evaluator I want him/her as an SLI/LCP. If they take the time to apply for the jobs, interview, are selected, and I am not; so be it.

Let's go with your theory.

Let's throw the seniority list in the trash and pick the best pilots to fly A350 captain.

Is that what you are proposing?

We all have opinions and I enjoy the debate. I often change my view.

In this case, making someone an A350 LCA with ZERO Airbus experience is irresponsible at best.

Exactly. I think you should have x thousand hours in type to be able to be a Captain. Only 350 time allowed. I mean, look at all the accidents Delta/NW had when the Airbus and 777 came on property. I bet you guys will lose at least half of the C-Series in the first year due to inexperienced pilots.

These positions are not awarded without politics.

It wud seem most logical to draw lca candidates not only from the deep end of the AB experience pool...but also from the same end of the international experience pool.

You should have seen the cluster thump when the first Boeing (727) hit the property.

G, How do you know the 717 pilot doesn't have some airbus time.

Imagine you are writing the job posting for A350 LCA.

What would you require under experience?

I'm sure I could be the CEO at Delta.

I don't have Ed's experience or resume.

Should I be the CEO?

Just a little common sense.

Who do we hire at all the positions at Delta?

The most qualified.
