Default Same day travel to CQ?

Can't find it in the FOM or PWA:

I've got an E period sim (West coaster), so it looks like I could travel same day to the first day of CQ...

Is this permitted and are there any consequences besides notifying the hotel that I'd be getting there a day later? Lose a day of training pay?

Not that I don't want to pend more time wandering around Virginia Ave.

Thanks!

There's a note somewhere that says you'll lose your hotel if you don't check in the first day. Like you said, I just call the hotel and tell them when I'll be checking in so they don't cancel my room. I like to fly in on a redeye, then sleep all day. Gets you nicely acclimated for those E periods, and gives you a legal break in duty should somebody question you.

I didn't think Delta could schedule line pilots for E periods? I thought only newhires could be scheduled for E's.

West coast pilots, I've done one. It's not pretty. It was 50% attitude and 50% jet lag following an Asia trip. 10% Virginia Ave.
