I successfully used mine for a Dec 25-26 trip last year. It processed and was approved during the first PCS run for that month.

Also of note, APDs are processed before regular PDs.
it's amazing how many people here don't know their own contract.....

Its not really that amazing when you consider how long it is and that it is written in some bastardized dialect consisting of a mix between modern legalese and mid-twentieth century bureaucratic diction.

Now if you are saying most Pilots should have a better hand on the SRHB - I agree.

The best way to get Christmas off is to have it pay 1.5X in the next contract. You woun't be able to HOLD a trip over a holiday. It wouldn't even have to be 2X. 1.5x would do it. Guaranteed.

There are several ways to try to get a particular time off.

Sequentially:

1) up to 2 months prior vacation swap
2) monthly bid with line/else start next, reserve/else start next
3) during the adjustment period IVD, APD, PD, swap with pot, pilot swap board
4) hardship need through chief pilot, usually not known in advance (bereavement etc.)
5) sick, usually not known in advance (people have been known to schedule surgery just prior to Thanksgiving and need until the new year to recover)

6) AWOL

None of these (save the last one) comes with any guarantee or percentage of success.

You can almost guarantee to be unstacked over Christmas as a junior line holder. It is harder to swap a holiday trip because of the holiday swap multiplier. I have never been approved for an APD over Christmas. It rarely happens. Unless you can work out some magic on the swap board then your chances are very slim of getting the time off.

So what you are saying is "He has a chance."?

The only downside, to me, is no pay for 15 days, but I can live with that.

Another question for the schedule gurus. I dropped a reserve day. Can I pick up another reserve day on a day off to get the pay back. In hindsight I should have tried to swap with a X day.
