I (currently) have Verizon. Has anyone else noticed that inside the ATL terminal walls, data is 'fairly' quick, but as soon as you go outside the walls, ie in the airplane, the data speed is near zero?

Does AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc. do the same thing?

Sprint does this in the cockpit of the A330 particularly in ATL. Works great until you sit in the seat, then boom... your messaging and internetting is done.

Doesn’t do it on the 320, though. No clue what the particular cause is on the big bus, and it works just fine outside of the cockpit on it, too.

I think it depends on where you are. I'm pretty sure the cell coverage in the concourses in ATL are just a series of cell signal boosters. Since they are focused within the terminal and not without, you would lose coverage. The articles during the power outage referenced the reason info wasn't getting into the terminals is because the cell booster antennas also lost power.

Nailed it

So, is there any reason to stick with an IOS phone related to the tablet? Aside from the ease of transferring files via airdrop? I’m getting ready for a new phone and was considering leaving the cult for a Samsung...

If you're going for the Note 8 I highly recommend it. Fantastic device. If you're going for the Galaxy S8 I'd say wait. The S9 will be revealed this month. Drops the price on the S8 if you didn't want the latest and greatest

Well the iPad is completely unlocked and you can log into Apple with your Apple account and then iMessage from it and share apps etc.
You know the joy when your iPhone rings at home and so does your iPad, Mac, etc simultaneously.

That's the most annoying default in the industry. What idiot thought of that?

Yeah. I'm leaning towards the Note 8 but waiting until after the 2/25 reveal to see if there are any deals to be had. It seems like Samsung has figured out what former IOS junkies need to survive.
