If Delta wanted to remain “neutral” they could have pulled NRA discounts without broadcasting it to the world via Twitter. Remember when Target was trying to be “inclusive” and they changed their policy to allow males in the women’s restrooms? They broadcast that all over the media instead of just changing the policy quietly and moving on and lost a lot of business. I thought Delta was smarter but....

Amazon deal
Georgia politicians just lost any chance of that Amazon deal coming to GA.

Excerpts from morning email:
"On Saturday, Delta rescinded a one-time group travel discount for the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting, and asked the organization to remove our name and logo from their website. This decision followed the NRA’s controversial statements after the recent school shootings in Florida. Our discounted travel benefit for NRA members could be seen as Delta implicitly endorsing the NRA. That is not the case.
I have heard from many of you over the last few days. Our people and our customers have a wide range of views on how to increase safety in our schools and public places, and we are not taking sides. Our objective in removing any implied affiliation with the NRA was to remove Delta from this debate.
While Delta’s intent was to remain neutral, some elected officials in Georgia tied our decision to a pending jet fuel tax exemption, threatening to eliminate it unless we reversed course. Our decision was not made for economic gain and our values are not for sale. We are in the process of a review to end group discounts for any group of a politically divisive nature."
Not going to calm anyone down, people like being offended. Not wanting to be affiliated with a controversial group seems to have backfired somewhat.
Lt Gov is laying out a bold stance to the business community with the tax move.

I’m a gun owning Republican and I wish Delta had just stayed out of it.
However my problem with the NRA is that it’s morphed into an almost entirely political organization that absolutely owns the Republican Party. Neither party should be beholden to a special interest group. Probably pie in the sky on my part as I see know way out of it unless special interest and soft money get eliminated from the process. Applies to both sides of the aisle.

Nobody had a problem with Comey being fired. It was the context and the timing in which he was fired that caused the problem.
Waiting around and quietly letting the discount expire and not announcing it would have been much smarter.
Going forward, maybe a generic statement about how we focus on providing superior service and try to avoid actions that appear political out of respect for all our customers.

So you don't think they should exercise their constitutional rights then? Do you see any irony in your post?

As far as the curling team goes, no one is entitled to anything. So, we should just upgrade all Gold Medal winner? What about the Silvers or the folks that wiped out, don’t they deserve an upgrade? We responded fine to the request and they accepted it without issue. Delta did fine. I think no response would have been lame. Kind of like not returning a call or email. They took the request into social media, not the other way around.
