Default Oh No! Now We're Overstaffed

Anybody read Bob S. 's memo -- the link to which was snuck in the middle of this weeks Flt Ops update?

The company is giving out leaves this summer because we are overstaffed in several categories (A350, not). There are several options including extra weeks vacation added for vac move-ups, KLOAs, and even stay at home for 25 hours pay for that month (SIL).

One reason is credit time is down 2.44% YOY. Hiring may even be curtailed.

Also next big AE to be published around July 3.

We are always over staffed in some categories just as we are always understaffed in others.

They definitely are not taking about NYC 73N.

It’s not even the 20th for PCS runs and the entire month of June is solidly negative reserve coverage....and there are already days with < 25% coverage so you can’t even APD.

Hopefully I set up ARCOS correctly......come on Green Slips!!!

On the hiring side, interview class have shrunk from 12 to 5-6.

A buddy of mine interviewed last week....class of 6....5 for CJO’s. They were told to expect November Indoc dates.

To add on to this, a friend got the CJO mid-April but won’t be in class until July 9th.

Were they really told early November? I interviewed 2-3 May and they told us “early fall.” I asked a follow up trying to define “fall,” and recruiting told us they didn’t have any numbers or dates from network planning. It would seem that some of those numbers would be contingent on the June and July AEs (whether or not one of those qualifies as a 365 day MOAB or not). Once internal movement has been forecast, then sim requirements for CA upgrade and equipment changes can be planned to see what vacancies can go to new hires and when sims can be programmed to train them.

Anyone with an indoc date after 9 July out there, if so, could you share your interview date?

Every action has a cosequence. Less credit is great for the company, until it isn’t. Credit acts like a shock absorber in the system, soaking up reroutes and irops, allowing for pickups, premium pay flying. When the shiz hits the turbine, and it will, people time out and things unravel. Good thing they have ARCOS up and running. I think they are looking at staffing leaner, relying on premium pay flying to fill in gaps rather than staffing overages.

Well they better because the national weather service has issued a rolling thunder warning for this summer......
