Read my post a bit more slowly.
My example was moving backwards. It has happened to me twice in the last 5 years so I do give them some credit.

The two times you’ve moved back there were more than likely two who moved forward early too. Net benefit 0 to the company. I believe that was Sailings point.

And my point is that just because the PWA says training complete after the 16th, doesn't necessarily mean you get converted the next month. That's all. Again, experience.

If you have moved down twice to lower pay in the last five years I would bid differently. I got what you said. They have to convert in seniority order among the groups being trained.

Maybe I wanted quality of life? But thank you for the advice. 🤔

They do convert in seniority order but if they convert the senior guy earlier (rather than the following bid period), then they can convert more of the junior ones, right? Crazy concept for you, I know.

You just contradicted the rest of your post with this. That's my point. Its not the fulcrum issue of our generation, but the company handled it wrong and (contractually speaking) illegally. They simply can't do that. Just like they can't offer a 6th, 7th and 8th week of paid vacation to a certain category. The company can't be allowed to go "off contract" for anything, even if it means some "good deals". The SIL had to be agreed to by both and it wasn't and they did it anyway. They can't be allowed to do that on anything ever. Period.
