Default Reserve APD change to IVD?

If I am awarded an APD for a reserve day, can I subsequently convert it to an IVD?

I can't seem to find this in the PWA, but I think I recall reading something stating that it is allowed.

I'm not sure about what you're proposing. What you can do is APD and then put a PB day on top of the APD to get TOFF instead of APD on your schedule. You'll get paid and you'll be eligible for premium flying if you desire.

If you have available vacation days why not IVD in the 1st place, exact same rules as the APD and processed before the APD making it a higher priority drop.

I don't have any PB days so that's not an option.

I'm hesitant to utilize an IVD on the first shot because I suspect that I might get a Green Slip inbetween now and then. If I do, then I don't need the pay preservation that an IVD provides....I would simply need something to get me the day off (which is an APD as the coverage is slightly below the min required for reserves on that particular day).

Therefore, I'd like to get the reserve day dropped as an APD and then subsequently convert it to an IVD if I don't end up getting a GS in the meantime.

Just to clarify something. If you APD a reserve on call day you won't be eligible to fly a GS over that day.

I don’t think there is a mechanism in the contract or in PCS to allow you to do what you’re asking. You could always try it by asking a scheduler to change it from APD, but if they say no I don’t see where you’d have a leg to stand on to challenge them.

If there is even a remote chance I’d want the IVD, I would just do that in the first place and be done with it instead of screwing around trying to finagle some one off deal.
