LOL. I for one would gladly welcome a purple tie, or even better no tie, if it meant a more comfortable functional uniform. You guys that take "pride" in this antiquated gaudy cheaply made non functional clown outfit from an entirely different era that we're forced to wear boggle my mind.
My vote would be for a totally modern revamp with modern fabric, comfortable, breathable, lightweight, wrinkle free. A coat that's actually functional and can be thrown in an overhead bin and not wrinkled or ruined easily. I prefer to blend in at the airport, I don't need nor want everyone in the McDonald's line to know I'm a pilot. But that's just me, I like practical things that make sense. I don't want something that makes me look like a peacock, I'd just like to do my job as efficiently as possible and I wish Delta would toss me a bone there. Captain looks at her and said “my gold buttons will go off in the metal detector.” She looks at me having just went through and I said “mine are plastic made to look like gold...I am not sure what he’s got going on.” Then he tells me that when he got his jacket they were higher quality than what they’re giving guys now days. I’m with you on the uniform, but for what they pay us I don’t really care. |

The LCA who signed me off on my MD-88A OE asked me to meet him in the hotel lobby to "go over some FOM stuff" during our layover. He spent 10 minutes out of our two hour FOM review telling me not to let the FO's wear a non approved jacket during walk arounds (even if it is raining).
These people actually exist. |

Did you tell him you're off the clock and any review he'd like to conduct you'd be happy to get paid for?
As a side note, have we determined if it's the 88 that attracts these people or does it create them?? |

The gigantic dome emblem was implemented by someone compensating for a small something else. We honestly changed hat vendors because that shield was too big for most hats. That should tell them something but they just limited us to only the most high profile, redongculasly huge variant, which I can only imagine is supplied by the Russian Navy. Try finding a black belt with a brass buckle, I can only find those at stop over stores. Maybe we are leading a trend there? |

Spot on. Several van drivers have said "I carry alot of airline folks and yall have the sharpest uniforms in the game". I get compliments from random pax on the uniform nearly every trip during jacket season. The Delta uniform is iconic and must not be altered... Ever... IMO.
I do think we the company should design and distribute official company overcoats that are sleek and modern. I'm thinking high quality wool with removable epaulets and removable Delta logo so you can wear it during layover. Speaking of sleek stuff the Flight Ops Vests are so nice I'm buying a personal one. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8269731d13.jpg Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

Exactly....the double breasted jacket looks like a something a clown should wear on Halloween. How many double breasted jackets do they carry at men’s warehouse?
