It will be hard to replace 88 flying with a smaller aircraft because everything is full. Unless they increase frequency.

This is spot on analysis. The 737, especially in NYC has historically had wonderful 1-2 leg a day trips. That may change drastically with the arrival of the 321NEO. I think nearly every premium transcon from NYC, SFO, SEA and LAX will have a NEO on the route

It also explains why those aircraft are relatively junior. If you’re in the bottom third of those fleets you may wind up flying non-commutable two day trips to the west coast on a regular basis. I am sure many of those pilots would like to have the 321NEO take those trips. Marketing wouldn’t let it happen however.

The 330, 767-400, ER and 757 transcon flights out of NYC all have lie flat seats. They do transcons because of that. I don’t think the 321NEO will have those. It is a premium market as you say.

There is also some seasonality in the usage of the WB fleet on transcon flights. When the international flying increases over the summer, the WB transcons will be reduced. Network is very good about chasing the yield with airframes throughout the year.
