Default DTW-CDG connection in 35 mins?

35 minute connection to make DTW-CDG for a dependent on an S3. Obviously, check-in would be well prior to the first segment. Is this even practical, albeit not ideal? I am operating the DTW-CDG segment.

Also, am I correct in the understanding that dependents may not accompanying us to the hotel on the crew shuttle to/from CDG?

Thanks in advance!

A 35 minute connection would be very very tight, and realistically not doable. As you are probably aware, they start clearing non-revs 1 hour prior to departure for an international flight like that, and boarding right around then, and boarding closes 30 minutes prior to departure .

My guess is that even though the dependent would be checked in for the flight, when she did not come up to the podium when her name was called around the 1 hour mark, they would eventually pass her over and not assign her a seat.

And no, only crew on the bus from CDG, the dependent has to make their way to the hotel on their own.

Is no dependents on the bus a new thing or not really enforced? I've seen it done.

It’s enforced. The bus takes you to customs where each crewmember must display a ID. You will be in the hotel sleeping before the crew gets there if you take the train.

Since you're operating the flight, once you've checked to see that the dependent's inbound flight is on time and the gate not too far away to mess it up (and they're not sitting in the last row of a 757-300), then talk to the gate agents at your flight and let them know that they'll be showing up late but they'll be there. That way they won't be paging their name and moving on to the next non-rev on the list.

Plenty of last minute pax running up right before they close the door including non-revs; the 30 minutes announcement is pure BS and just of the many mindless background announcements we've all learned to tune out.

I can independently vouch for this. I've tried both (van vs train). The train is much quicker.

Train is fast, clean, and quiet, easy to use. There's extra schlepping (no need to go into details) for the crew bus that is unlike any other destination I've flown to with Delta.

Not at all except in easily avoided locations on saturdays.

And they aren’t just targeting random people, anyway

On some flights bottom priority nonrevs need 35 minutes just to get off the airplane, assuming it’s on time you still wouldn’t make it. There might be a fighting chance if the flight is early. Pray for good weather and nothing out of the ordinary.

They can ride the bus from hotel to airport. Not from airport to hotel.
