Default Regionals lowering thier mins, who's next??

Just wanted to post some things I've seen lately. On this forum, Comair may be offering a 17,000.00 bonus plus a 6 month contract to come work for them. (Possibly lower thier mins)
Over at Jetcareers.com, ASA is about to lower thier mins to Comm. Multi come January, 2008. (rumor)

American Eagle has went from 800/100, 500/100, now 400/50.

Anyone "know" or has heard of who's next? It seems that as pilots, we are in a buyers market right now. How is all of this affecting where you will apply?

One last thing, I hear even Expressjet is starting to have trouble filling classes, even though they have slowed their hiring down, and may lower thier mins too. Fact or fiction?

Next will be the not-quite-majors having to lower their mins. Airtran, Midwest, Spirit, etc.

I just flew with an F/O who got hired at Spirit with no ATP, a couple hundred PIC as a CFI, and about 2400 total time.

Somewhere I also even heard that some of the majors have no-shows for classes. That's kinda hard to believe, but possible if a candidate has more than one offer from a major.

my brother is at emirates and he says they will be forced to lower their mins, considering they have something outrageous like 150 new airplanes coming...

cathay and all the well paying airlines in asia will also be really competitive and attractive to american pilots. mins will come down my friends.

Thankfully SkyWest is still 1000 total, 100 multi, 100 instrument, which means, when I upgrade, I won't have to teach someone how to fly an ILS while we're barreling through an overcast at 200mph.

I certainly hope you're not flying at 200 MPH when you barrel through that overcast.

BTW, I have upgraded a few months ago and have yet to experience what everyone talks about WRT new-hires and their supposed inability to fly.

Maybe it'll happen, but I think most of these wash out in training or never even make it to training. I have flown with great F/Os who really know their stuff.

Might be an issue. But I haven't run into it yet. Our interview process and training process seems to thin the herd. Sounds a bit brutal, but thusfar I have flown with F/Os who really know their business.

One dude has been here two years, but was a CAE/type rating guy and he was among the best. Knowledgeable, good judgement, alert, procedural, etc. No arrogance or cockiness.

So far, so good.
