Still can’t believe a deputy could not have attended in his place. I posit THAT is the real snub.

Thanks! If they were nationwide I’d consider joining them. I let my NRA membership expire as I don’t support an organization that supports infringing on my Second Amendment rights. Currently I’m looking at Gun Owners if America and there was another organization who’s name I forget that supports repealing the NFA.
Edit: I just found it, it’s the NFA Freedom Alliance.

Is it true that NRA members have a much lower rate of gun related crime than the population as a whole? I've searched around. Hard to know what source to believe, if any. Would be an incredible stat given that the rate of gun ownership has to be much higher among NRA members. Maybe rather than Red Flag Laws, everyone should be required to join the NRA..

Usually if you can wade through the numbers cited, those sort of stats become self evident. Democrats like to include suicide by gun in their numbers, so if you hear murders per year are above 6k they are including suicides. And NRA members are like any other demographic, and human, they get low.

Ill have to get back in the number someday and see where long rifle deaths are at, and if they broke out legally defined assault rifles. My guess would be the .22 still reigns supreme on 10-30 yr look backs but im out of the numbers these days.

They will also include someone who drives to a school parking lot at 3 AM and commits suicide with a firearm as a school shooting.

To be honest I’ve never looked into it but I’ve heard that multiple times. It wouldn’t surprise me though.

I’d be interested to see where people are getting assault rifles as I’d like one. I’m referring to the actual definition of assault rifle which is a selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine, not the democrat’s definition.

That always surprised me. Regardless Japan shows why there’s no correlation between guns and suicide. The last time I looked they had the highest suicide rate per capita in the world, and it was almost impossible to get a gun there.

I guess you were weren't around for the legally defined assault rifle stuff but that was federally defined in the AWB from the 90s. Of course it took us exactly 30seconds to figure out we just change the grip a little and boom, no longer an assault weapon. As far as I'm concerned there are military grade long rifles and there are civilian grade long rifles (who sometimes look like military grade). FBI normally doesnt wade into the "assault rifle" fear mongering because they know the AR just means armalite rifle, and the ar17 is just a shotgun...not two worse a killing machine than an ar15
