There's an Alabama plant so I think the thinking goes you're buying American because airlines will want to go around the tariffs, so Alabama could grow and someday be supplying all airbus for USA. There's no way but if a few Americans can have a good manufacturing job God bless.

Isn’t there a competing “lawsuit” before the WTO claiming the same thing against Boeing that hasn’t been decided yet? At least that’s what I heard. Maybe he will wait and see what that decision is before implementing any tariffs.

Both sides are free to legally apply tariffs as the see fit. The thought from the WTO magistrate was that mutual assured destruction would force negotiations. The WTO pretty much punted.

There is, but the countersuits from the EU don't have a good history. Back in the A380 days the concern was state subsides to airbus, and Boeing sued. Airbus answered back with the old, the gubbmint builds your roads. The findings are always, yes Boeing is subsidized and Airbus is subsidized way more. Airbus always countersues to remind someone who cares everything is a little subsidized.

$250 million straight out of profit is a non-event?? Share buy backs are done with profit, after profit sharing is divided up. This tariff will come straight out of profit before profit sharing is divided up. Another hidden tax from the Trump administration.
How about we take that chunk of the $250 million a year that Delta will be losing and take it directly from your share of profit sharing?

I do think it would be fair to delay this particular tariff at least for a while due to orders placed when no one could possibly know how or when it was going to turn out. But the WTO, hardly a MAGA entity by any means, made their ruling that AB was subsidizing against their parameters. And please hold the nonsense about if you've ever driven on a road or lived anywhere there's fire or police that's a subsidy so all subsidies are the same subsidy. Thats sophistry insanity.
I've criticized BA a lot when its due. But they are the nation's biggest exporter and no admin is going to do anything truly substantial to reign in their BoB largess nor to stop them from pumping out the widebodies to dual subsidized ME3 style airlines. Best case is we get a little relief on the FoC scam airlines, but TBH I'd be suprised if even that happens as long as they buy BA. But if the WTO is correct on this (and if it isn't, then prove it and show your work) then BA was harmed to the extent they said they were by AB's unfair practices. That cost BA business and their workers some jobs. Making the fulcrum of your argument that your PS trumps their jobs would be an interesting attempt to say the least.
Speaking of PS, regardless of the merits of the broader discussion all around, just how much exactly do you think this will reduce yours?

American Express deal will offset $250 million easily.
Everyone can relax now. Tariffs are settled. Tip your hat to the people in the airport offering free flights and 70,000 bonus miles. They are our insurance against these tariffs lol.
