United / United Express Reciprocal Jumpseat Boarding Priority Update #2

It has been brought to our attention that the pilot representatives at Republic and Skywest (IBT and SAPA) have posted letters via social media to their pilots encouraging them to start denying United pilots the jumpseat. These letters are filled with misleading and inaccurate information. They also claim that the UAL MEC has been officially notified of their upcoming actions. This is patently false. We have not had any communication with IBT since last December or SAPA since last September when they last threatened to disrupt the United operation.

The new UAX/UAL jumpseat boarding priority outlined in Flt Ops Bulletin 19-194 will become effective on October 15. Please see the Oct 9 MEC update re-posted below for more details. These new agreements are the result of multiple LEC and MEC resolutions and the culmination of years of work.

When we began to research this issue, we discovered that documented jumpseat agreements did not exist between United and the UAX airlines. All eight of our UAX carriers were given new reciprocal jumpseat agreements to sign on May 14, 2019. Within 30 days of receiving the agreements, five of these carriers signed. These new agreements align the UAL/UAX jumpseat boarding priority with industry standard agreements at AA/American Eagle and DAL/Delta Connection. We would like to thank the ALPA represenatives at ARW, CMT, TSA, and XJT for their leadership working with us to improve jumpseat benefits.

There are three remaining UAX carriers that have not yet signed: SkyWest, Republic, and Mesa. Due to this failure to sign, these three carriers technically do not have a reciprocal jumpseat agreement with United Airlines. This is contrary to the recent information sent out by the IBT and SAPA. Instead of cutting them off completely, as some believe we should, they were afforded the courtesy of being categorized and prioritized as "other airline."

If and when each of these "non-exclusive" UAX carriers sign the agreement, they will be moved up into a higher boarding priority and join GoJet in the non-exclusive tier. In addition, they would be included in the upcoming UAX electronic check-in/listing and international jumpseating (ICASS) on UAL.

If you are denied a jumpseat at any of the UAX carriers, provide a detailed report via a jumpseat PDR with the carrier, flight number, and date. Include the Captain's name if possible. Please remember to reference the UPA section 21-P Commuter Policy if needed.

As always, please remain professional and respectful. There will be more information forthcoming next week. If you have any questions please file a PDR to the Jumpseat Committee.

Go a step further, take away OO and YX’s non rev privileges on all carriers as well. Always hate to see a OO lifer taking a seat away from a DL or 9E employee.

United isn't even putting them in the non-exclusive UAX group, and forcing DOH on other airlines for their priority isn't kosher, so no that doesn't make it all better.

while i agree that UA has no business mandating date of hire on other carriers, they are only got moved to the OAL category because they refused to sign. If they had signed or as soon as they sign they are in the UAX category.

Time of check in was getting abused to death.

DL and 9E and DL retirees have priority in the back over OO so not sure how they are "taking anyone's seat"

If it’s a DL mainline flight and the OO lifer has more seniority than say a 9E new hire than the OO lifer is getting on first.

Not exaxtly. The 9E newhire boards as S3B1 and the SkyWest pilot boards behind them as S3C.

That’s in correct. A 9E newhire goes ahead of all SkyWest/Republic/GoJet/Compass passriders on a mainline flight.

Wish we would get rid of them altogether. What’s their beef now? I don’t get that airline. Constantly thinking they’re the warden and not the inmate.

Their new hires I was told by some United guys at National get written up a lot for been right seat captains

Amazing how they brainwashing them to think they are above all other regional guys.
