40 x 350K average individual pilot cost per year. $14M/year. If they would have launched it on time, 4 years = $56M. I'll take those specks.

You are acting like we are in a static environment. That's ludicrous. You wouldn't even notice the difference with all the hiring going on in the next few years. 10 years from now, when all this slows down, I'll agree with you, but now??? YGTBFK

What was our Donayelli settlement, $30M? Wasn't that a yuuuuuuge number? Well if this is such a great dynamic environment, then there are all kinds of opportunities for you at the current bases.

There are. I wish there were more AEs, but there are opportunities for anybody that has been here more than a couple of years. Certainly a TON more than I had at 2 years on the property.

So there's not really a need to give a $56M concession.

Is the absolute number of pilot jobs always what we should push for?

Just by the complaints from this summer, yes. If we are overstaffed I'll reevaluate.

Wouldn’t reducing the pilots required have helped with this summer? That sounds like a fairly ridiculous argument

Not allowing VBs means they can't cut their hiring needs. They have been consistently tight for a few years now. The optimizer efficiency they "discovered" last summer put us permanently behind the curve. The last thing we need is to cut the number of jobs, they have always tried to be (or at least desire to be) on the just barely staffed rather than fat side. This past summer is a perfect example of how distorted their view is.
