Even if you were hired with the type rating, the simulators required are all the same, so you get the same check with the same instructor, it's just a matter of whether the instructor does the paperwork to add the rating. Southwest had that requirement because they don't want to have instructors who are APDs and can sign off on ratings. I know you don't have to get one to interview with them now, but not sure if they still require you to pay for your own training to get one as was the case in the past. They are an outlier regardless.

It's good to have goals, and DL is certainly a worthy one, but the vagaries of aviation typically make it difficult or impractical for most folks to target a specific airline successfully. They might well get there eventually, but at what cost in compensation, seniority, and QOL if they miss an opportunity to be employed sooner (potentially years sooner) at another top employer.
Keep your options open and don't hesitate to apply to most or all of the other top airlines. Also when you get to the point where you can apply, you'll know more... about what a competitive applicant looks like at that time, and how you stack up based on your school and training history, and other resume factors. The good news is that the top employers mostly all look for the same kind of stuff.

I agree with rickair. Don’t get discouraged if the plan or course changes. My career path changed several times. 9/11, flight school bankruptcy, my choice airline not hiring me before Delta all redirected my plan. It all worked out and I’m glad I’m at Delta but it wasn’t always the plan.

I don't know if Delta has one but I would try to do an internship if you can while still in school. If they don't have one do one with United or Southwest or whoever you could see yourself working for. There is a saying that you don't pick your airline the airline picks you. Hope that helps.

Hi Mohamed,
You have set a nice set of goals for your age. Many of your goals are professional and while that is great, don't forget to let the flight training experiences during private, instrument, and commercial really sink in. Like others have said, what is working today may not work tomorrow, so be flexible and don't get discouraged if things don't go exactly to plan. Remember, Happiness = Reality - Expectations. If your expectations and goals are astronomically high, you have a may have a tough path to achieve professional satisfaction. Finally, enjoy the college experience and take time to stop to smell the roses. I was very much like you in school and while I had a great time, I wish I would have smelled the roses a bit more at times. Also, don't get any DUI's. Best of luck. If you are at a school associated with Propel, you have absolutely nothing to lose by applying for it. Even if accepted, you are under zero obligation to fly for Delta if your path takes you somewhere else.

For a 17 year old, you have put in an impressive amount of research and to have your path mapped out to the detail that you do shows that you are motivated to make it happen. All I'm saying is don't get discouraged if your path takes a little longer than planned, because life is not always so linear. Best of luck to you!
