Don't forget how many pilots said the purple uniforms were eroding the Delta brand because they didn't match the airplane color. The customer greatly disagreed. Stick to airplane flying. Let marketing deal with brand awareness and in-flight deal with this uniform quagmire they got themselves in.

Listen, I think they should wear a uniform with wings. I also think we should stop walking around in our uniform shirts without anything on it as a way to blend in. Or not wear a black Columbia over the shirt. Or a college hoodie.... With your hat displayed prominently on your bag. Or any other poorly veiled attempt at not looking like a pilot. Glass houses and all.

Non-revving/DHing or commuting like that is a far, far cry from being on working crew duty like that. That's the point. Not even enforcing a pin on wing/ID or anything recognizable whatsoever policy while being a working crewmember is pathetic and yes it effects safety. No excuse for that ever, unless you want to make the claim they are allergic to the wings LOL!
In this hypothetical evacuation scenario, not a single person is going to say, "I know you are telling me in the same cadence of everyone else to get up and move to the exit door and I stood in line dutifully..but now I see you aren't wearing wings so I'm going to jump. |

If doesn't affect safety. Get over it.
I'm not saying they should need to wear billboard uniforms or even commenting on purple vs black fabrics etc. Whatever, that's marketing. But there is zero justification on completely incognito working cabin crewmembers. I don't care what their uniform is but there has to minimally be SOMETHING to distingush them from pax. Even the branded pink T-shirt/jeans BCRF outfits with ID's were enough to do that. It doesn't take much. |

For working crews it does. I'm not saying its a massive threat. But to have those trained to facilitate evac and numerous other emergencies dressed completly anonymously without even a 15 second wing pin on and ID obligation is just stupid and indefensible.

I added to above. Listen, we agree they should be wearing wings. We just disagree that it's a safety crisis.

let’s say you’ve yet to meet your rear FAs as we all have happen fairly often. Mid flight you take a restroom break and come out to find a person in black and white standing right beside the cockpit door. No wings, name tag, or badge. Sure the other FAs may “back them up” and couch they are working crew, but do you get my point here? There are safety and security concerns to this that are very reasonable concerns.

Not a crisis, but it is a mnior safety issue. He or She who signs for the jet is responsibile for that to some reasonable degree, like it or not. Completely incognito is also in violation of a very generous company policy at the moment. When you're sitting at the long table with your glass of water and little sign opposite an entire army of "we're just here to help" types, in the admittedly statistically unlikely event anything happened, you will have to explain why, when you briefed the FA's (you did brief them, didn't you?) that you didn't even say a peep about a completely incognito cabin crew when you knew it was out of company policy. All it takes is one pax to say they didn't know what was going on etc. Put on wings or an ID or we're not ready to push. Simple as that. We complain about CA's authority being eroded by the snowflake culture yet we willingly lay down to be walked on out of fear. Please.

Honestly, this is also a bogus scenario. Without getting into security, you have to trust the people you work with. The policy and procedures are in place to ensure there isn't an imposter.
I can't believe these uniform threads go on so long. Let the FAs do their thing and everyone will be happy. It is not a safety issue. |
