Default Employe stock purchase plan.

Saw on the fidelity page we potentially have a employee stock purchase plan. Any benefit to using that method?

I get the risk of buying stock in a company you work for and the risk if airlines in general at this point so let’s leave that part out.

our plan is BS..you get to trade the stock with no commissions, but most brokerages are zero commissions now anyway

I completed this a couple of weeks back after the stock cratered. $200 max per paycheck is the limit. Just do a search on Deltanet and it'll guide you through. Won't get rich but it's a no effort way to show some support commision free.

So, to be a good employee I now have to take a voluntary leave, use Delta AMEX cards, and buy stock at that max limit? Interesting times indeed.

Is this a joke? Buying stock doesn't help the company at all. You'd be better off buying their junk bonds!

It's also an easy backdoor way (read minimally intrusive) to setup a Fidelity account if you ever decide to use any of the other Fidelity perks offered us.

Buying DAL stock through the ESOP might be the only way to buy shares through Delta. I was cashing out some positions a couple months ago in my DAL 401 account and wanted to buy some shares and found out it is not allowed inside the 401 even through the brokerage link. Fidelity told me its prohibited. My guess is its considered insider trading.

What Fidelity perks? Is there a super special Delta employee package beyond the standard offerings?

I would likely buy though an E*TRADE account as more short term thing. I keep my 401 in index funds. Anticipating getting furloughed in which case I wouldn’t pay capital gains on any earnings next year. Have enough cash on hand that I’m ok weathering there furlough so any extra I’m looking at 1 year investment opportunity. Seemed likely delta stock is a good deal right now and willing to swallow the risk of bk risk.
