If you havent got the density of population you dont need it. My county has 5 deaths since this nonsense started. But im willing to do it a little more than i am now if it could stop this hell.

or more importantly: if you’re this imbecilic, how can you be allowed to be in such a position that requires a modicum of judgement?

The same? Of course not. Coherent and effective? Sounds reasonable.
We're going to have hot spots. NYC had many lessons learned trying to put out the fires of this disease spreading through densely populated urban areas. But none of those lessons learned or best practices seem to have transferred to rural America. Mom and pop urgent care facilities are struggling to figure out how to even test for CV19 efficiently and effectively, months after this thing got our shores. I spent over 2 hours of my day just trying to get tested with symptoms... and was told I should have results in 7 days (quarantine while waiting). Symptoms are no worse than minor respiratory infection / mild allergies / common cold.
The pending disaster of what transpires when cold and flu season hits is (in my estimation) going to be an absolute mess. Folks are going to ignore covid mistaking it for a cold, and freak out over a cold thinking it's covid. There's no reason each community needs to figure this thing out themselves. Rapid, easy, efficient and cheap testing is the only thing that will get our economy back on track. IMHO only a coherent and coordinated federal response will enable that.

I live in FL and am curious how this looks in a week. If we don’t have a death rate like NYC did in the opening weeks then Anderson will have to apologize and recant. Oh, wait, they will just move onto another fear mongering topic.
1/3 of the cases and deaths have occurred in 1 metropolitan area in FL. Again, why should the response in one city match that of Miami? I’ve read enough data from non biased sources to understand a huge portion of our population is very low risk. Might we get it and get sick? Of course, it’s a virus. But as long as you are under 65 and do not have any comorbidities your risk is almost zero. Thankfully we have 50 states that are free to determine their response best and local governments to determine their response.

Who’s Anderson?
you are right that if you get tested occasionally but do not adjust your behavior based on those tests than yes it’s pointless. If you act as if there is no public health crisis, you’re right, it won’t matter. The virus will just spread unabated. Bravo 👏

not my question, but I’ll be happy to take it. I’m afraid of a large swath of morons that protract this pandemic and the associated economic fallout because they are too short sighted or reckless than is prudent
here’s a question: what so hard about wearing a mask?

So what would your response be? How many cases/deaths is safe? When can we shake hands? When can my kids hang with their friends again? When can my kids teacher (kindergarten) see the expression on their face and understand more from that than any thing they could say?
Fear of something is driving your actions. Fear of not living what little time we may have is what is ****ing me off. I haven’t been able to see my grandparents out of fear of spreading to them and dying. Both have said they would rather lived and enjoyed and taken the risk than miss the hugs and the great grandkids sitting on laps. For fear of death we have stopped living. I’ll take living. But, people like you have taken that from me. I won’t force you to come out in public. You are free to stay home with your mask. Don’t make me do the same.

I am NOT saying they’ll do it, but if that’s their target, and they need to get 2500 pilots off the books to make it happen, they’ll do it. And if there are any financial incentives baked it for themselves, look out.
I know this sounds heartless, and I’m sorry. I was a furlough victim after 9/11. I am sorry for everything you all are going through.
