I was ready to take a 3mo SIL back in April before the Co squashed it. A 1-2 year paid leave sounds like a dream. A fella could really go some places on a sailboat in that time. I always knew an extended cruising trip was part of my life plan but to take that trip in my 30s with a steady paycheck vs my 50s or 60s staring retirement in the face would be a game changer.

SW has set the bar. It’s becoming embarrassing seeing how our management is approaching this. Fortunately I don’t take it personally, I just file it away for future use. Like when asked to move a training date, nope, sorry. If a vote for ALV reduction comes before anything similar to the SW offer or any of the other offers ALL other airlines received I know my vote.

SWA has lived up to Herb's original culture, its actually pretty impressive what they have offered their employees during this mess. Delta is clearly looking for the cleanest balance sheet as companies emerge from this, and it will come at the expense of its employees. Unpaid leaves and pay cuts -- it's much better for the shareholders than paid leaves, but does it ultimately undermine the brand? I guess we'll see...

Personally, I would have preferred an extended SIL until I retired instead of the VEOP. 12-24 months. You would still be an employee ... just in case. Also, since management seems to like the VEOP - it makes me like it less.

We're well on our way. This management team isn't thinking three months down the road, much less the years this behavior will hinder NPS and everything else that made our pre-covid business plan work. They seem to be oblivious how helpful it was to have most pilots all in on the business model and seem to have no interest in projecting any good will.

Alaska just had 30% takes leaves, and even then not everyone who wanted one got one.

I know I have stopped pushing wheel chairs and really don’t rush to say my goodbyes anymore. Being on time doesn’t even matter to me unless it’s a layover or last leg. Not sabotaging, I’m just realizing as I type this I have stopped caring and that surprised me. But then again, hardly any of my flights are planned to be on time and the CI’s are super low. Guess delta don’t care no mo either.
