He/she asked why other people aren’t upset about these things. That’s just shouting into the void since nobody here except jaww seems to have been offended by any racial comment. Perhaps he/she should ask the people who are offended by, say, the Washington football team why they aren’t also offended by the Boston Celtics instead of shouting into the void pretending to have some sort of moral high ground.

so, we are supposed to be offended on behalf of people we think would be offended if they had read what was written, or are we not?

I was today years old when I realized this forum is no better than Facebook. My blood boils at the hypocrisy. I used to come here for Delta info. Now I find myself willingly getting wrapped up in the ancillary BS. I think I’m turning all of this off for a while. Maybe chit chat is better. I’m over this place. Toodles everyone.

"so, we are supposed to be offended on behalf of people we think would be offended if they had read what was written, or are we not?"
No....but in the swiftly becoming Orwellian state of the UK, check out the recent story of a soccer star who was banned for three matches and fined 100,000 pounds--all because in a private text, he said "gracias, negrito" to a fellow spanish speaking friend. That's a term of endearment where he's from.
But to the social media lynch mob (a crowd I'm guessing you empathise with more than not) that term was determined to have "possibly" been offensive.
Surely you don't find that sanction to be just? After all he was punished because someone, somewhere MIGHT be offended.

I have no idea of the facts surrounding this situation, but it’s interesting to me that you present it and then imply that I support any response that happened. I’m only one person, and I’m not the person/people with whom you disagree in the case of this soccer star. Maybe stop trying to put that on me. After all, nowhere in this thread have I advocated being offended on behalf of someone else.

I know you know this, but ignore them. I highly recommend the block feature. Don’t let the pathological jack wagons drive you away.

Nope, just saying that there are things that you shouldn’t say, whether or not you think the person listening/reading will be offended. Besides being wrong, in today’s world where you have no idea what is being recorded or copied.
