I believe it was a very sarcastic response that was saying at least 5500 is guaranteed to get a seat, i.e. 50% of the list. I do not think it was a legitimate attempt to guess the plug.

That is why I replied with captain obvious.

Given the movement forecast and the company’s desire to freeze pilots in seats I won’t be surprised if they try to award every reasonable narrow body A bid in nyc. How about a bold prediction of 93% system seniority for nycnba. If not this year then next. IIRC nycm88a got about that low and it was partially because senior pilots were frozen in place.
Haha. I kept going back and forth between “Is he joking? I thought we covered this” and “maybe I missed something, I should ask”.

I feel so dumb. I should have picked up on it. Captain obvious yes of course.

Freezes don't apply to captain upgrades

First time Captain upgrades. But, remember, you do bring any remaining freeze time plus the (usually) additional.24 months for the new Captain category with you.

Plus one should expect a bunch of downgraded captains to return to a left seat, especially those who did not have reinstatement rights. They will have a freeze on their new planes.

I don't know if SEA220 is going new hire. Based on what I see for people bidding it above me, I'm not even sure I can hold it. We have some growth coming on it, guess that can change. But not nearly the growth the 320 has. They also said they needed to grow SEA220 out of SLC crews too.

I would bet the SEA220 category will grow some time after 60 days of opening. That way it isn’t considered a new category with an opportunity to get out of a seat lock. I’m surprised it’s opening with 60 crews on this bid and not 20 crews with more added in a later bid. When it does grow I think new hires will still go to NYC for at least one AE cycle as NYC-based pilots escape the east coast. JMO
