I'm not bothering to look through the rest of the thread or what caused you to post that, but I just want to point out that people always leave out the second part of that stat: "...but only 30% of first marriages."

Previously divorced people are significantly more likely to divorce a second, third, or fourth time. It's the same people making the same mistake again and again, enough to skew the whole stat northward.

If the financial experts of APC don't come through, I'll have to jump on reddit.
Bitcoin (BTC) - download the strike app. No fees on BTC purchases. If you plan on large sums of money, buy a hardware wallet (ledger is good), and move your BTC onto the hardware wallet so you control the private key.

Good book - The Bitcoin Standard.

The bitcoin conference in Miami is wrapping up. Biggest news is that money will be moved, via BTC, from buyer to merchant over the block chain…but only briefly. You’ll pay in dollars on your phone, it converts to BTC to move/record, then the merchant receives in dollars. Instant payment…same as a credit card. BTC volatility and tax reporting is no issue. You & merchant will never know BTC is involved. The big advantage…no third party (ie visa/mastercard/amex) to take 3% from the merchant. My understanding is Square’s Cash App will soon be using this payment method (80 million users). I’m tellin’ ya fellas…lots of brains and innovation in the BTC space.

Do they 1099 like a interest payment, or K1? Is that just a straight-up short-term gain?

We've got about half of our retirement in real estate, which was a business that I had helped start. When the hedge funds came in we got squeezed out. We just were not going to pay more than retail prices to build out a portfolio. As the business evolved and got more complex it has resorted to reporting gains as "interest on a variable rate loan." The partnership structures had become an administrative burden. It is time for me to update the agreements. Looking around for more tax-advantaged options and maybe pushing for a fundamental restructuring. WOndering how these companies do it. We looked at forming a REIT, but with a pool of less than eight figures kinda thought it wasn't worth the trouble.

It's going to be an expensive lesson for alot of folks. ARKK, Bitcoin, folks thought this was some new era of Investing where valuations don't matter. Not like this hasn't happened before (Tulip Mania). History doesn't repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.

Everyone has their day, bears and bulls. The problem is, if you’re a true long term, buy and hold, by the time you’ve amassed your fortune, nobody cares about the last 20 years you built your wealth. All that matters is the last quarter to most. I MAY be back to where I was at all time highs in 5 years, maybe longer? The beauty is that I have plenty of time. Short term, it hurts but, this is the prices of admission and I’m fine with that.

For me, I’m currently back to my pre COVID levels. Fun ride up, miserable ride down, but not changing anything.

How do valuations apply to Bitcoin? I'd still rather have 10 bitcoin vs. 1000 dollars.

I’d rather have 10 scam coins over $1,000 too, it’s worth about $300,000 right now lol. The question is would you rather have $300,000 in cash or 10 bitcoins?
