To clarify, I’m proud we have profit sharing AND didn’t relinquish it. Which in turn forced the hand of the company (twice, initially and later to restore what was taken away after we denied a request to relinquish) to pledge the same to the rest of the employees. This put real rewards in the hands of the working regulars. Those same people a generation ago, would be the unionized proletariat. The middle class worker has prevailed here. As to the source of profit sharing, the sacrifice was necessary and inevitable. Without it the company would not exist. The wisdom to align future rewards with managements motives was the real win. I too endured the bankruptcy and acknowledge the greater sacrifices than mine and am forever grateful for the opportunity. My pride comes from the unprecedented share of our profitability we (all Delta line workers) partake in. Not some benevolent rewards bestowed on us out of a gracious management. The non-cons may or may not acknowledge ALPA’s role in their share but we (pilots) all know. I’m prideful that they receive it regardless. Labor employed by Delta has a claim to corporate profits beyond any other ever in history. This is a great accomplishment, period.

Pretty much. It surprises me when I see employees who think the company has their back or cares about their well being. As another poster said, they’re not doing anything out of the good of their hearts.

It’s nothing personal, it’s just how the employer employee relationship is.

This is what the VEOP has done... left a generation of pilots who have no idea what we gave up to get profit sharing. You....along with the non contract folks think the company gives it to us in their infinite generosity.

The fact is that I gave up 46% of my pay rates to get profit sharing. I'd like you to imagine that your pay was cut the same amount tomorrow and then tell me how proud you are

Well put, clearly some here think the company does anything for any reason other than optics or profit.

Guess what team we are part of?

Nothing wrong with being proud of our careers and operating jets safely but don’t for a second kid your self that you aren’t anything more than a cost item like fuel or spare parts.

Those are some small bonuses. The MIP was overhauled last year. I’m sure it wasn’t to cut managerial pay.

And yet us line pilots do not get anything. Not a single dime.

Wonder if the OP is proud of his employer handing out bonuses to scope violators and management telling its most skilled workforce they are just a number and to sit by and what for them to grace you with a reset to commuting to third world slums like new york at the expense of their families

It really boggles my mind that pilots STILL think that this company does ANYTHING out of the goodness of their heart??!!! They have shown time and time again that the ONLY things they care about are 1: Public opinion (how they look in the public's eyes) 2: How much money they can return to shareholders and 3: How much money they can return to their pockets. All of these "things that make you proud" are just window dressing to distract you from all the things they are doing to undercut the career that you spent so much time and effort building. None of it is for your benefit, that is for sure!

Well said. In my experience, guys like him will eventually get burned and have that "aha" moment. They realize all that stressing they did over on-time performance and fuel savings was an idle pursuit. They wonder why no one seems to notice all the good flights they do, but how quickly management will call when things don't go as smoothly.
