I think you hit the nail on the head here. The reason we have thousands of pilots getting ALV to sit at home while they can’t complete flights was a completely self inflicted wound, but somehow it will get spun as all the greedy pilots fault🙄🙄

The more I think about this, the more I think this is a threat directed at ALPA more than anything else. The company must feel that they can implement the flow without having to negotiate with ALPA. "Negotiate with us or we'll implement a new flow program and get the 35 jets back anyway." I just find it hard to believe they've made a huge philosophical change when it comes to these programs. The obvious choice, Endeavor, has a few hundred pilots who have already interviewed and been turned down by Delta. Not to mention, that the other pilot group would have to agree to accept the flow down provision. Precovid, I would say that would be a slam dunk. Now, I'm not so sure.

The interpretations will be interesting to see if Delta could successfully execute a Compass-like agreement that is PWA compliant without DAL ALPAs concurrence. Hopefully ALPA fights back to keep the 35 RJs from flying since IMO a flow down doesn’t provide any value for junior Delta pilots job security. If we have another similar industry downturn in the future, 20 pilots per month flowing down to a regional would have taken over 10 years to cover the 2500 original WARN notices. Nearly all of furloughed pilots would have had to find some other way to put food on the table in the meantime.
