pretty sure this has been answered before but just wanted to double check. If the base I want is not offered in the initial class drop, bid the aircraft i want over the base, correct? How quickly can new hires expect to get the base they want and would they have to spend a month or 2 in a crash pad for IOE/reserve before getting to their desired base or would they be eligible for the new base by the time they finish training?

Bid the fleet that is most junior for the base that you want. You can generally expect to be able to hold your desired base (depending on fleet) within an AE or two. Some guys never even report to their assigned base.

As far as I can tell every new hire has been able to bid to any other base on their respective fleet on the first AE after they start indoc. Depending on when in the month you start class and how long training takes and when the company converts you to your new base you're looking at 1-2 months tops in the base you get stuck with on initial assignment.

Looks like the latest and greatest projected hiring number for 2024 is "only" 1100.

Lol, I remember when senior guys laughed at the company when they said they were going to hire 1,000/yr. They said there is no way the company could ever train that many pilots a year. What a crazy time.

Heard recently from a LCA that the plan is to reduce to 50/month when they do throttle back in April-ish timeframe. 1100 would roughly match up with that, FWIW.

That is exactly the same as the 12/27 class. I wonder if thats a coincidence or if it isn't out yet for 1/2.

Yep, it's worth noting that 1,100 would make it the second highest year when compared to the 2014-2019 era. Ahead of 2017 and behind 2016. We've just had five years of hiring in two years. Insane movement for those 2021 guys.
