Background Timeline/PRIA

I received a CJO second week of January. Received email from background company the following day, all documents uploaded same day. I called Cisive to check on the status and was told I was “pending” and that they required nothing from me. They mentioned waiting on PRIA.

Does anyone have an experience/timeline of how long that might take? And when the background check clears, and class date is offered, how many days out is that start day typically?

Thanks!

1/5: Interview and CJO
1/22: Offered a class date in mid Feb

PRIA is the piece that seems to be somewhat variable. I called Cisive once a week just to ask if they needed anything else. It may not have helped, but the simple call gave me the illusion of taking a more active role in things. Based on your timeline I’d imagining you’ll hear something soon. Good luck.

I had a few 121 employers to work through PRIA, but I was about 29 days from CJO to Indoc letter with a class date. Heard of some mil guys with no PRIA being much faster, but Cisive has also “lost” a few packets before, including mine, never hitting the send button to Delta on my successful background check. If you get to a month with no word, then I’d be concerned and start standing on desks at Cisive.

In my recent experience, background checks are what you are waiting on for a class date. That and the outsourced company is swamped by all the work. It was 3 weeks to the day of my last piece of requested paperwork turned in when I got my class date. That seemed like a pretty average time. Some mil guys/gals got in a bit faster. My PRIA complete email came a week after finishing indoc. I had 3 companies on my PRIA and all texted me within 3 days of my CJO saying they got my PRIA request and have already sent it back YMMV

Just answer honestly. I didn't do any prep, practice or research on the assessment and got the interview invite. Just be you.

Just a question:

Did you have to bring your high school diploma to the interview and did the HR people have a look at it?

Thanks.

i haven’t seen my HS diploma in 20 years. They did ask for college transcripts… It was collected along with all the other documents, so I’d imagine they looked at it. Never came up.

Has anyone ever had their references or “recommenders” been contacted by the hiring team? Any current or previous employers being contacted? I’ve written recs and been a reference on perhaps dozens of apps. I have never taken a phone call or an email about ANY of them - no matter if they were hired, PARB’d, rejected, fix-it emailed or totally ignored.

I’ve known some great people who were rejected and parb’d. If that’s happening based on a 45 minute interview without any attempt to add color to the process by including references who have known these candidates for years or decades…we’ve got a problem. And if recs and references aren’t being used - why not just pull them off the app?

To my knowledge the only reason they have internal recs is that it guarantees the applicants app will be scored. Outside of that, you're right in that it seems pretty pointless to have non-Delta letters on the app. I mean even the most unlikeable person can scratch up a few people to write glowing references. And I've never heard of any reference actually being contacted by the hiring team. If someone is willing to write a glowing reference letter it's not like they'd say much of anything different if contacted by phone.

Because the apps is done through AirlineApps, which is the one that ask for references. They just can’t pull it out off the app.
