Granted I wouldn't want to do that my whole career he did make an excellent point. As a senior 73NB, I can vouch for the QOL benefits of "block hour surfing" aka drop all your trips, WS turns, out and backs to get to GS trigger and GS here and there on the weekends. Beautiful thing about this airline is there is something for everyone. Heck if I became When I become independently wealthy and no longer needed to work my next bid would definitely will be Widebody B. Preferably somewhere I'd be the most senior on Reserve.

FIFY.

BTW, If you are looking to speed up the process of independent wealth, change your paradigm on WB B. You’d be amazed what can be accomplished on SC with a good internet connection or LC with a good banker, broker and contractor. There are a couple of great ideas over in the Side Hustle archives.

Here’s a similar thought process with a 180 difference on viewpoint. Using free time on WB B to build wealth, will create an opportunity for becoming a NB A who can be selective about what trips to fly. When the independent wealth and NB A relative seniority thresholds are met, bid to the left seat and fly a reduced schedule of daytime flying.

With infrequent and unpredictable AEs, it is a slow process to escape such a category, and there’s no guarantee escaping any given category will help someone escape an undermanned situation.
Agreed. Until contractual changes are made, you can either scrutinize which has no impact on your reality, or improvise thru the swap board, drops, and/or ultimately, a strategic AE bid

That's definitely a viable option but for me right now the most efficient way is focus on my biggest money generator (flying airplanes) then reallocate that capital into investments. Real Estate takes a lot of time and Capital to get the snowball rolling on your own(especially in this market) so I've elected to be entirely passive there thru Syndications. On the other hand, I can research stocks on the beach at the All Inclusive layover in Punta Cana while on a 4 day GS

Sharing ideas about increasing money and time off is so much better than discussing needles and masks.

Minor Hijack.... Are you doing crowdsourced syndications?

Could you please point me to the bid package where you can fill your month on these trips? Other than pop up broken trips, they don’t exist.

Can you expand on “crowdsourced syndications”? From what I gather, most syndications have a high cost of entry ($50k+) so it’s tough to get a foot in the door,

They don't exist in Bid packages. The strategy is to drop your trips and pick up these broken up trips. The more senior you are, the easier it is to "Block Hour surf".

Yup there are multiple barriers of entry into these investments. In most cases you have to be an "Accredited Investor" ie make over 200k. Shouldnt be a problem for most Delta pilots. Secondly while I've seen min investments as low as 10k, 50k is usually the standard. Luckily as Airline Pilots, especially in this environment, we have the ability significant amounts of disposable income ie Greenslips

What is this "drop your trips" you speak of?

Let’s not hijack another thread and take this to side hustle.
