Quote: Actually I’m gonna change my opinion. I APPRECIATE all you guys WSing. 12 GS for me in the past 3 months. Less competition for me. Thanks. I mean it.
OMG you must hate your family

NQ training question
Anyone know if on NQ for 7 months if you can requal with just a two day CQ or do you have to do Special Requal?
Quote: When I was a new hire, a Captain I was flying with on an OOBWS (who was on his phone constantly looking for GSs) spent an entire leg all butthurt because I “was taking some other poor FOs GS!”.

Even after explaining to him how it was going to allow me an extra two days at home that I wasn’t going to have to commute to/from NYC, he went with the “when you’ve done this longer, you’ll understand”.

It’s in the PWA. People need to get over it. I live in base now, and would never ridicule someone for doing what’s best for them within the limits of the PWA, to include OOBWS. Shocks me how inconsiderate some of our fellow pilots can be (albeit a small %)
I agree. It’s in the PWA and everyone should use the PWA to maximize their quality of life/pay. That said….OOBWS should be taken out of the PWA. At a minimum an OOBWS should go below an in base GS.

Why? What operational sense does that make?

putting the OOBWS below an in base GS should be a no brainer. The entire assignment ladder should put in base pilots ahead of out of base.

Removing OOBWS wouldn’t mean they can’t use an out of base pilot. It would just mean they would have to give an out of base greenslip to do it.

From the pilot viewpoint? WS don't count toward the staffing formula while GS do. I'm good with keeping OOBWS, but I would like to see them go below in-base GS.

So does that mean we change the priorities or the formula?

Why below GS other than more $$ opportunities?

In this case, my vote would be for changing priorities. It would help the manning formula AND gets the extra pay.

Special requal. Four days for balanced pairing. Three days for single pilot or two capts/fos. You can also get a warm up if you so desire.
