Which luggage do you use?
 

After seeing the headset thread, I was curious to ask what bags everyone uses for their travels, based on fleet.

It seems that the 737 (no pockets) Stealth 22'' is a good option. But, I have no idea on the others.

What do you all use for your plane?

Got this old Pelican case on wheels as my main suitcase for clothes and a good Husky tool case as my flight bag. Basically all the stuff for my flight goes in my tool box/carry bag. It’s a good combo. Only thing I did was tape up the Husky logo with Gorilla tape.

Been using the standard Stealth 22" bag from Luggage Works for over 15 years now on RJs, 757/767 and the 320. My first one lasted nearly 10 years with just a wheel replacement and minor frame repair. I really only replaced it when I left the regionals to use up a uniform allowance I'd accumulated. Second one just had to have the wheels replaced at about the 6.5 year mark. I've never used it but I've known a lot of people swear by the refurbishment service from Luggage Works.

It's really been great for everything from RJ flying to 6-day international trips. If you commute (especially on rjs) it's almost a must. It's basically indestructible. The weight is the main drawback of this bag but also what leads to its durability. They have a new version with a carbon fiber frame that is intriguing. Something like 30% lighter with as much or more strength. It's a bit more expensive than the standard but I think when it comes time to replace my current bag, I'll be looking hard at the carbon fiber.

You only need the no side pocket 737 bag if you are a 737 Capt, because your bag would be going in the storage area in the cockpit and the metal braces/wires under there tend to shred the side pockets

FO could have a 26” International bag with extra side pockets because your bag goes in a closet in the pax cabin….no issues with the side pockets getting ripped off.

I use the Kirkland bag which is often referred to as the $99 Costco bag. I bought it because it was on sale for $69, the return policy was great and my old bag was stupid heavy. Costco stopped carrying it, but I've had it for 6 years now and it's still running strong. Big advantage is that it is super light and worked just fine for 6-day international trips. Before that I had the 22 inch Luggage works back, which was ridiculously heavy. It was also overkill for someone who didn't commute and rarely flew on RJs. I still have a Swiss Gear rollaboard (and backpack) that my parents bought me back in 2001. That stuff is nearly indestructible, so I'll check them out when it's time for a new bag.

I purchased it in 2007. it’s still going strong. I shipped it in for refurbishment in 2017. It’s really a great bag.

briggs and riley domestic carryon. Lifetime warranty and they do airline discount. also doesn't feel like you are dragging along a body since its so much lighter than the LW bag.

Not saying you should get what everyone else has, but if that is important to you, at least 90-95% of pilots have a luggage works bag. There are several options within their line. Crew Outfitters has examples for you to look at. If I didn't already have one, I'd look very closely at the carbon fiber one for the lower weight - just not sure how the carbon fiber will hold up against curbs...

Is this the one? Does it work well with a J-Hook to attach your flight bag?

Fair enough. I plan to go there next week to take a look. I like Briggs & Riley in general, but not sure if LW or other pilot-influenced companies (if they are at all) helps with a more appropriate bag.
