Default Southwest getting premium pay

Did everyone know Southwest has been paying pilots 1.5 pay for regular trips and double pay for any trip they pick up in open time? No trigger to get this pay.

Any pick up no matter what? And there has to be a trigger otherwise why is some 1.5 and some 2X? I know the grass is always greener but this warrants a much closer look than this implies.

I talked to a SWA pilot today and he told me the trips they bid each month are paid at 1.5 and anything they pickup in open time is double pay. i think it has been going on since October, and is to avoid flight cancellations due to staffing.

It was a MOU enacted back over Thanksgiving that's stretched till... well Feb 9th for now.

Its had a few iterations but it currently states that ANY TRIP that was part of an original bid, or ELITT/TTGA pays 1.5X the leg value, not the rig. Any trip picked up from the company through Monthly, Daily, Hourly Open time pays 2X.

Reserves pay 1.5 their original line, and any trip assigned to a reserve pays at 1.5X.
If a reserve block is picked up in OT from the company, it pays straight, however, any trip assigned is paid at 2X the leg value.

They can't straight drop trips there. But I'm sure they're still all making bank.

Good thing they are making serious coin. Will offset all the market losses the past month. Seriously though while it is a good deal rigs aren’t included so you are best flying hard time trips and are quickly against the 100 in 28 limit. We had a lot of guys hit 160-180 here in Dec and January off super easy green slips.

Yes they are, yes they are... - my SWA friend made 48 TFP (about 42 hours of pay) for a 3 day two weeks ago, that he picked up out of open time. I don't think he dropped a trip to do that, but he's making some serious $$ for the month.

He's at 192 TFP (168 hours) for the month so far. He says it will go up if they use him over the next set of reserve days. I **** you not.

But….. Delta is industry leading in terms of pay, retirement, and profit sharing. And JL said he intends to keep it that way! I’m sure our 1.5x pay will be accounted for in our retro checks next month when our industry leading TA is signed!!!
