Sounds like the incentive pay will cost them $150M in the first quarter…on top of the $230M in profit sharing they are paying out (On almost $1B in profits for 2021).

Did Southwest recognize the CARES money as income vs Delta's recognition as a contra expense?

I didn’t look at their financial statements, but the article I read alluded to roughly $2B in aid being part of that calculus. Netted an average of over $4K per employee, with pilots mostly getting more than that average.

I guess it depends on how much you want to spend in order to prevent flight cancelations. Delta was up near the top of flight cancelations, and Southwest was near the bottom.
"Not all airlines were affected equally. A spokesperson for Southwest Airlines (LUV.N) said there were no issues to report with the carrier's flights."

Clearly Delta doesn’t ever want to spend money. Case in point: High turnover in schedulers, who are leaving Delta or moving to better paying positions at Delta. I’d think an experienced and well-compensated scheduler would save the company the equivalent of their salary every week (and a poor or inexperienced one would cost them the same).

Alas, I’m just a pilot…albeit one with a lot of time in my hands sitting at home being paid like I’m working.

Sounds like they did. Both swa and alaska are getting profit sharing. I'm not sure why DALPA is so silent on this.

We’ll hear something soon I’m sure, probably along the lines of “We didn’t think they’d do that”

Let see, sun country goes from 189 up to 293, yr 12.

that exceeds our current rate by a good bit. What sort of premium does delta have to pay to hire—not just who they need, but who they want?

just tossing it out there. Who knows what we’ll see, but 293 is basically our ER rate mine a couple bucks.

Nope, not at all what I was saying. I'll pass on a temporary agreement that can be pulled at any time by management and doesn't provide anything permanent gain in our contract. Especially during contract negotiations.
