To be rational about things here… you’re in the DAL sub-forum trying to advocate for going to Frontier, presumably to get more people behind you as more continue to bail.

I would say advocate is a strong word. I simply stated that living in Florida and commuting to Delta, to quit and then commute to FedEx was probably the silliest thing I'd ever heard. Especially if time home is important. Do you have any other airline you can think of other than Frontier that would provide that being as it is their most junior base? Sometimes when people ask for an opinion for help on a decision, others do in fact give helpful non bias responses out of kindness. Shocking I know...

If my motive was anything other than genuine then I'd tell this person not to go to F9. As that will only get us a contract faster being short staffed with looming growth.

Well…Actually, no, it isn’t a troll post.

He has 17 years to maximize his lifetime earnings. He needs to be on a widebody yesterday. He can bid WB pretty easily at the airline with the biggest widebody fleet on the planet. Add to that FedEx’s top shelf retirement plan. I’m telling him to take the DAL job so he can experience 121 flying and commuting for good-ish first year pay and good contract which will blow anything F9-NK will ever have out of the water when we get a new one, and he’s in a great place if/when the music stops. You want him to make 60 an hour and live through a SLI/JCBA at the bottom of the list…no thanks.

Next, he thinks he wants to stack all of his flying into one trip and be done, and doesn't like the idea of commuting. While he can stack trips together at DAL, a double dead head to an Asia WB trip each month is exactly what he’s looking for.

Maybe a BOS base could alleviate some of the staffing needs for NYC that can't be met...

Thanks all, for the feedback on the bidding/basing question. I appreciate the insight.

You realize FedEx has 1 year upgrades on the 757 and 5 hrs for the 777 right? How long again is it to upgrade at delta on the 330/350? 25 years? Commuting at FedEx would be much better than delta as well.

The work to pay ratio is much better at FedEx too. Yeh you have to do the back side of the clock stuff when junior but not forever. If your priority is time off AND making a ton of money, FedEx is the no brainer here.

There's a reason FDX and UPS pilots make so much. It's hazard pay. Backside of the clock flying will kill you when you're still young. Even fleets that aren't doing overnight hub turns have a lot of BSOC.

What's the good of having an extra million in your retirement account if you're not alive to spend it. Most freight pilots don't live very long past retirement.

A common trope, with little data to support.

Just because nobody ever did a double blind, scientific study, doesn't mean it isn't true.

Yup.

Along those same lines, just because you think it should be true, doesn’t mean it is.
