Default MEC Brief: Operating At Red Line, Again

Let me summarize it for you. . .
  • Company ran the operation at Red Line in 2019 & 2020. They will do it again in 2022!
  • GS's have increased 182% since 2018
  • "Unfortunately, there is little ALPA committees can do. . ."
  • So ALPA's solution is: "Flight Operations management must push back on Network demands and say enough is enough!"
  • ALPA requests pilots to call in fatigued if fatigued.
So Ladies & Gentlemen, plan on another summer with NO raise, NO quality of life, NO time off, NO schedule flexibility, NO help from your MEC leadership with NO end in sight!!!

No, I disagree. A contract is coming in the very near future. Trip and others told me so so I believe it. Putin and high oil be damned. Company needs some type of relief although I haven’t determined exactly what.

This is another important reminder to not fly fatigued. If you are fatigued due to fatiguing rotations, call in fatigued. Reference last summer's series on how to do it.

In real dollars, we will continue to take a pay cut as inflation relentlessly eats away at our pay tables.

The junior domestic pilots fly fatiguing rotations every week. How many times can they call in fatigued before they are targeted for doing so?

DL has been good to everyone I have talked to who has called fatigued. I would not worry about being targeted. That could get DL in big trouble if they did that.

Fatigued is fatigued, no matter how many times it occurs. Beyond that, if DALPA cant help, other agencies may need to be involved.

I agree with you, but almost the entire pilot group is scared to call in fatigued as we speak. Pilots want to blend in and not cast a spotlight on themselves for obvious reasons. If a few pilots did it weekly, I guarantee you they would be targeted. Maybe nothing would come from it, but they would be targeted by mgmt.

The conundrum being if you don’t call in fatigued when you are fatigued now when you finally do get so fatigued you can’t avoid calling in it can be interpreted by some judge as a change in status meant to illegally affect negotiations.
Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Damn!
