It’s about fleets and the greater number United has. Yes a NH may get a 7ER (same pay now as a 321) and we’ve had 2 I think 765 NH spots. I’d love to see half the NHs go to WBs. When it happens here it’s because of crappy domestic trips and a commute to NYC. When it happens at United it’s because of all the WBs and that is a standard in their NH offering. Trip knows he’s being disingenuous. There was a time when the 765 was a coveted FO spot for the Europe layovers, pay and productivity. That is no longer the case. A NH getting it before they step on property is a “bat signal” for troubled times and how undesirable the flying has become.

At UAL a good chunk of your off days can be moved at company discretion to cover longer international trips. At Delta a 6 day trip can be difficult to cover as most reserves won’t have 6 days available and the required rest. The trip gets split into two 4 day trips. That’s very costly to the company. It gets even more costly for trips that can’t be split or are longer than 6 days as often a GS is the only option. At UAL they simply slide your off days and give you the intact 6 day or longer trip.

It's a boon for the junior guy who didn't mind the "risk." WRT to the airport standby, from my understanding, the commuters didn't mind it because it gave them extra pay and got them home earlier (short reserve period). But yes, no freaking way to airport standby lol. |

I lived on the split up trips also. Why get 16 hours to go to CDG or AMS when you can get 21 and positive space (pre the current PS). Now and then the trip had to be built into a 5 day, even better, 26:15 for working 3 days.
