Currently only on international or long block domestic trips. It’s stated that they have reached a agreement for a full crew meal program in contract talks. How long to implement is unknown.

If I’m in the four day reserve bucket and there are junior pilots in the three and two day buckets, who gets assigned short call first? (Everyone below 2 SC credits.)

Of course you also have the SC leveling mechanism where senior pilots have to get 2 SC before a junior pilot can get 3, but again that is strictly within the days of availability buckets. A junior pilot with 5 SC who is the only one in the 2 day bucket will get assigned SC #6 even if there are dozens of senior pilots with 0 SC in the 3- and 4-day buckets, if scheduling wants to assign a SC to a 2-day available pilot. |

It is by seniority within the days of availability that scheduling wants to assign a SC period to. So if they want a 4 day SC, it'll go to the most junior 4-day available pilot who has 0-1 SC for the month, regardless of which RAW bucket that pilot is in. So if junior Pilot A is in the 4 day bucket RAW group 3 and has 1 SC, and senior pilot B is in the 4 day bucket RAW group 1 with 0 SC, Pilot A will get the SC. If scheduling wants to assign a SC period to a pilot with only 2 days of availability, the pilots in the 1, 3, and 4 day available buckets have no bearing on who will get the SC, only the pilots in the 2 day bucket.

This is somewhat consistent with what I see done. However, I don’t think it’s PWA compliant. Scheduling handbook lays it out differently. It should go by SC groupings (0-1 SC, 2-max, and over max is group 3). Only time they can bypass a SC move up is for those in the 1 day RAW bucket. |

The only thing that matters as far as determining whether your SC period was properly awarded is to compare yourself to all the other pilots in the same days-of-availability group, regardless of RAW score. |

What part of what I laid out is not PWA compliant? The SRH says "Pilots will be grouped by days of availability. Within each 'days of availability' grouping, pilots will be further divided into group by the number of short-call periods credited in the bid period..." Further down it says that "the Company has the discretion to determine the number of days of availability that will be paired with each short-call period." As I posted, SC groupings are done in reverse seniority order (junior are first to be assigned) within the short call group of pilots with the days of availability group that scheduling wants to assign the SC period.

Found it in the PWA. RAW groupings are considered. I had missed that in the scheduling reference. |

What? RAW groupings are NOT considered. It's in the SRH: "Please note that RAW value grouping and short-call group are not the same. RAW value is not considered when assigning Short-call periods." PWA 23.S.1.F (Reserves converted to SC) also has no mention of RAW grouping when assigning SC periods.
You quoted above “days of availability groupings”. I called it RAW groupings. To-May-toe To-Mah-toe. Never mind. I have the answer I need. |
