I have two routes I regularly fly often on paid tickets. In July I was able to purchase roundtrip tickets for 600 with two weeks lead time. Tickets 3 months out for the same route in April and again in May were 1600! The other route typically ran 400 to 500. Can’t touch it for less than 890 now even with status on American and reduced rate tickets on Delta. We also tend to be more than American on competing routes to the extent they are cheaper than fly for less tickets.

The only justification I’ve heard for this (IMHO) idiotic practice is simply to “prove” pilots abuse sick leave, as evidenced by higher callouts in May. What do current numbers show? Haven’t seen them lately.

Didn’t Alpa put something out a few weeks ago saying sick calls were down?

Heaven forbid you advocate for pilots instead of the company line.
You would more than likely have to prove that after talking to a chief pilot. It is the same thing if you turn down a reroute. If you lie and it's not true, that's where you get into trouble working for Delta.

What if you lie and you’re running Delta?

Then you are ok. No problems there. The likeminded board of directors has your back.

Not real sure how I advocated for the company line. As I pointed out at Delta currently all you need do is say you have a child care issue and you will be taken at your word. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Edit: maybe that was active pilots? Tons of people on mil leave might account for difference?
We have 376 pilots on mil leave, 752 pilots on disability, 8 FML’s and 36 PLOA for a total of 1172 pilots on the seniority list but not active.

Any idea how it compares to 2019 numbers? I’m guessing similar.

So basically you are saying calling in to crew scheduling gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want to you. Yeah, not buying that. Any call to them would then give them the power to assign you anything. When you call in for a IA you are calling for one specific trip with one specific footprint. No chief pilot or anyone at the company is going to call you for turning a different trip down. It doesn’t happen now and won’t happen ever for this hypothetical scenario.
