Yes, the chances are small. That is what makes him an outlier. I used to work for a billionaire who started with a $10,000 loan from his grandma, they do exist. Bezos and Buffet are other examples of billionaires who came from humble beginnings. Gates came from upper middle class parents and wealthy grandparents, so he would fit the narrative of starting with money.

I would argue that starting with minimal wealth amplifies the entrepreneurial spirit, whereas starting with wealth reduces the drive.

If you read about him sleeping in the office and working hard, there’s several cases of this too. However you can’t win an argument with people who think billionaires are evil.

You claim your tax credits? Mortgage interest? Donations? Write off your car registration fees? You take a deduction? Even a standard deduction…then you’re guilty of doing the same things as them, except on a much smaller scale.

Facts aren’t welcome when discussing evil corporations and billionaires. However donating to BLM and recognizing them as a legit organization is imperative. Or you are a bigot.

I knew a guy who borrowed $10K from his grandma and blew it. Much more common.

I'm not sure why all the fan boys came running when I didn't bow at the feet of Diety Musk. I'm not arguing he isn't successful. Clearly as he's routinely in the running for richest person in the world. I said he's a loudmouth clown on social media. Being rich doesn't make you a prophet and it certainly doesn't make you a good person. History is littered with rich people who used shrewd business and labor tactics to make themselves more rich and more powerful.

I will admit I had no idea his parents divorced and he cut his relationship with his father after him and his mother moved to Canada. I stand corrected and apologize for my comment. Learned something new today.

"Talks between rail labor (12 rail craft unions bargaining in two coalitions on behalf of 115k rail workers) and major railroads ... will enter a 30-day cooling period this Friday. Then the Biden administration may appoint a Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) to resolve the dispute."

Still several more steps before self-help, plus at least two more cooling-off periods.

We always talk about strikes, PEB, cooling off periods, etc. What I just recently discovered is that Congress can intervene on the backside of all that and force a TA.

It's an interesting argument.

I don't think either party in Congress has been receptive to PUBLIC sector unions for at least 30 years, however.

Pilots making 3 or 4x's the average worker aren't a sympathetic demographic to anyone. Even other pilots, judging on the poo flinging here.
