Lots of angst on this issue for no reason. If any demographic, especially a very small one, is seen as being favored to the detriment of a large majority the proposed deal will get shot down in flames. “Ain’t it a shame…. to be shot down in flames.” We have all seen a MEC try to sell a deal that the Pilot group at large doesn’t like and it doesn’t end well for the MEC. Think DAPLA 2015 and UAL 2022.
No way around the memory rat. :D And FWIW BK was 17 years ago, not 15. Scoop |

It was certainly a huge win for the junior pilots!
my relative seniority barley moved after the VEOP and for almost a year after and they still tried to furlough 1941 of us. I’m fact I would argue the benefit for the bottom was the least pronounced at the time. the top 3rd saw a very large amount of their peers retire which opened up a huge amount of WBA slots as well as significant improvement in relative seniority for whatever category they were in at the time. For the middle 1/3 of the list, Many of them were able to reinstate to their previous positions or bid for a new position with much better relative seniority. while not much changed for the bottom 2000 or so until almost a year later. (It was not until April of 2021 when we were brought back to a status with an airplane and June when we hired our first pilot post Covid) |

Whatever this ends up being, it better be optional. I want the cash now and to control my own investments.

If it’s not optional it will be voted down.
No one will get a windfall at the expense of those junior to them. If this is a possibility, it will get voted down. That is all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The MBCMP (Market Based Cash Balance Plan) is completely independent and separate from the Minimum Balance. The MBCBP can exist without the Min Balance. The MBCBP may or may not be optional, depending on the Department of the Treasury’s decision on the matter, and is not a windfall for anyone, senior or not. It’s simple a tax-deferred vehicle for excess DPSP Cash. The Minimum Balance, however, would be a windfall for a small section of the folks screwed from their DB retirement plans. They are two completely different things. |
