Default 737 vs A320 2023 Version

What's the better fleet these days? The general consensus is that the 320 is more comfortable but the 737 has slightly better trips. Are overnight lengths comparable? What about legs per day? Why does the 73N do the majority of the Caribbean/Island overnights instead of the 320? Is there any talk of this changing as more 321 NEOs come on board or will these destinations likely remain with the 73N? Who gets used more on reserve?

TBH, you don't even ask about a specific base. The permutations are endless depending on commuter/home based, base, seniority level. If you are Delta already, go look at the current manning lists, find a few people near your seniority at the BES that you are considering, and see what kind of shedule they are flying. If your not Delta yet, get the job, and then bid the one that has a base where you want to live/commute to.

regarding that last sentence, both are in every base.

Trip mix changes continuously. The top 20% will stay put unless they can get top 20% on something that pays better. 320 is a stepping stone to the 330 and top pay band. 73 is a stepping stone to the, ahh, 78..no, to all the local vills and 3-4 leg days!! And it has a yolk! Yeah!

Sorry. I’m on 73 with no intent on jumping ship. But as seen in another thread, I liked the Maddog flying. This won’t affect my medical will it?

As a former maddog driver, it sounds like a psych eval is called for.

Won’t all of the inbound 737-900s from Indonesia add a lot of short-haul flying due to their uncommon layouts (e.g., lack of ovens, etc.)? So, conceivably a lot more 500 mile-radius flights out of ATL that the MD88s used to fly?

Personally, if I were based out of SLC, SEA or LGA, I wouldn’t waste my time on the A320 or 737NG when I could fly the mighty A220-100/300 instead! At least the proposed A220-300 rates look pretty good.

No - the 737 is already doing that flying, it's just now going to be on a specific 737 model. So that Delta original 737-900 that used to fly ATL-BNA is replaced by the Asian 737-900. That OG 737-900 just goes and flies a new route somewhere else, which may be long or short, just depends on what network needs.

The overall 737-900 fleet is growing, it's just different which actual planes are going which places with the Asian 737s. In case you didn't notice, the MD88 has been gone for a bit and that flying was already replaced.

And the Asian 737-900s are scheduled to get a regular interior, just not right away.
