Can somebody explain why LA, with around 1,000 pilots needs Reps who never fly and Atlanta with 4,800 pilots have Reps that do fly?
I was out in LA for lounge week several times. Never once saw anyone at the ALPA table. Not once, middle of the morning or afternoon. An empty chair making half a million a year in pay and benefits. The LA pilots re-elected them. An elected Treasurer isn’t enforcing the rules against those who elected him. ALPA needs a judiciary function. |

Even better, you got to leave this miserable union, and you still got paid! I'm shocked how many miserable 60+ yr olds I'm still flying with. Must have missed the memo

I'm not at all miserable. I love my job. So much that I am really hoping to stay to 67 or even longer.

Something greater than the zero we got.
No I get it. But it's a trap question. Because anything I say you are going to turn into a "yeah but we aren't getting that so it's coming out of MY pocket so **** you". Remember this. You didn't lose your retirement either. You are benefitting directly from what was taken from us and the way it was done. And you responded that retirement wasn't important to you because you have your full retirement from Delta. |

Don't care for the recently passed TA?
Hoping for something better next time around? Forcefully worded letters are a start. Cathartic, anyway. Useful? Not so much. But building a constituency and storming the castle to take over the LECs and MECs for the next TA needs to begin now. Small but tightly organized groups with extremely narrow interests always dominate in politics and organizations of any size. (I'm actually happy enough with the current TA. Does anyone here talk to other airline pilots, much less normal people? 1 year ER captains, and $400k/yr for top-of-pay scale captains? Holy crêpe, we're a spoiled bunch. It wouldn't be that difficult to storm the barricades and dominate the agenda for the next turning of the wheel though. The MEC is nominally your "governing body". It's not the Holy See, however. Voting turnouts for LEC reps are insanely low, and will decrease over the next couple of years as everyone accepts the "new normal" that is the current TA. Want to have a major impact/influence on the next TA? The time to plot and plan is Right. Friking. Now.) There's no better book about this than: The Populist Delusion - Neema Parvina. Everything you ever wanted to know about how actual politics truly work. Best book I've read in a decade. It's a SERIOUS ENDEAVOUR. Whining on an online forum, or reading a statement at a MEC meeting, isn't going to move a needle. |

Is it “we will get em next time” or “benchmark here and move up”? Contract passed, what’s the concept going forward? The Holy See beacons the idea of eternal life, which is far from eternal life in a contractual iteration. |

Can somebody explain why some ATL pilots have an odd fixation with the LA reps? |
