To expand on this, they recently started pre-assigning rest to reserves, effectively removing those periods from the "reserves available" calculation. That removes about 30% of reserve-available-days, making a lot of previously droppable days undroppable and reducing other days to the point that only the most senior can drop them.

This affects line holder's ability to drop as well.

It's one of the many attacks on the pilot group that they implemented BEFORE negotiations in order to avoid "status quo" limitations.

That is good for you. When your 717 breaks and they equip sub it to a 319/320. Guess who gets used? 320 short calls. Almost guaranteed to sit 5+ a month with a 4/5 usage rate. Or 5 out of 6. Not great.

Tegridy, this thread was necro-awakened by AKBushCo (as their first ever post on this forum.) The post you're quoting is from over 3 years ago. The good old days of reserve.

But I still like your response. It's true for today. Things ain't like they used to be from even 6 months ago.

This resurrected thread is a brief and interesting glimpse into what RES was like in the very recent past. Of note, "cancellation" isn't mentioned a single time.

Unless they just keep relying on greenslips to solve all their problems.
This was a prophetic statement, other than it was the 2359 short call that actually occurs.

Lots of 2AM-7AM on the menu for NYC320 now.

I don’t read dates on posts, but whoever reawakened this is confirmed a loser.

It was someone with a future class date. I kind of appreciate them putting in the work to find a relevant thread instead of just creating a new one.
